CareLog provides comprehensive privacy controls to protect patient health information and ensure data confidentiality.

Overview ​

Privacy controls in CareLog allow patients to:

  • Mark health logs as sensitive
  • Control family member access
  • Manage data visibility
  • Maintain confidentiality

Sensitive Health Information ​

Marking Data as Sensitive ​

Patients can mark health logs as sensitive when:

  • Logging daily health status
  • Recording symptoms or conditions
  • Adding personal health notes

Sensitive data is:

  • Hidden from family members
  • Only visible to medical staff (doctors, nurses)
  • Visible to the patient who created it
  • Protected by additional access controls

How to Mark as Sensitive ​

  1. When logging health status, check the "Mark as Sensitive" option
  2. Sensitive logs appear with a special indicator
  3. Only authorized users can view sensitive information

Family Member Access Control ​

Linking Family Members ​

  • Admin must link family members to patients
  • Family members can only view non-sensitive information
  • Patients cannot directly control family member links (requires admin)

What Family Members Can See ​

Allowed:

  • General health logs (non-sensitive)
  • Appointment schedules
  • Basic patient information
  • Visit request status

Restricted:

  • Sensitive health logs
  • Detailed medical diagnoses
  • Prescription details
  • Emergency call specifics

Role-Based Access ​

Access Levels ​

  1. Patients: Full access to their own data
  2. Doctors: Full access to patient medical records
  3. Nurses: Full access to patient health information
  4. Family Members: Limited access, no sensitive data
  5. Admins: Full system access for management purposes

Data Security ​
